tudents in Daemen’s Social Work program receive the highest degree of preparation through course study directed by our exceptional faculty, innovative research opportunities, and wide-ranging service activities. Our graduates have gone on to careers in all fields of social and human services including mental health, family therapy, gerontology, child welfare, education, crisis intervention, health care, substance abuse, and many others.

KEY FEATURES:
  • The curriculum is carefully sequenced around a professional foundation that includes content on social work values and ethics, diversity, social and economic justice, populations-at-risk, human behavior and the social environment, social welfare policy and services, social work research, social work practice, and field practicum.
  • Small classes sizes (15:1 student/teacher ratio) help facilitate enhanced interaction with faculty members dedicated to teaching excellence and providing personal attention to each student.
  • The program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education’s Commission on Accreditation.
  • Among the innovative service offerings available for student participation is Daemen’s Seneca Babcock Community initiative in South Buffalo. Students in the College’s social work, physician assistant studies and education departments work together to empower the impoverished community residents who are facing social issues such as illegal drug dealing, teen pregnancy, high school drop-out, poverty, cultural awareness, and issues that come with aging and immobility.
  • Students are invited to participate in the Social Work Alliance that provides them opportunities to socialize, meet professionals, and volunteer in the community. The group organizes professional learning and development activities, social service projects, and social activities.
